In an efforts to win the annual student government Executive election, certain students at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario sometimes find themselves doing things they normally wouldn't. However, very few students go as far as team HPR did this February, when they offered to jump in Lake Ontario if students gave them their opinions on the student government by filling out a survey. Perhaps the unseasonably mild winter had inspired HPR to make a promise that most would consider foolish (to put it mildly). However, the weather would prove to be a cruel mistress. On the day that HPR planned to jump in the lake, the daytime temperature dipped to -3 degrees Celsius, despite a daytime high of 4 degrees the day before. Worse still, a howling wind (shown here) brought not only blowing snow but also a -10 degree wind chill. Unfazed by the poor conditions, HPR gathered at the shores of Lake Ontario on February 6, 2006 to carry out their promise.
